Last year, in homage to New York Daily News sports columnist Jimmy Cannon, I authored my first “Nobody Asked Me, But …” column. The format enabled me to address multiple issues in one article rather than wait months to write about a topic which, by the time of publication, might have become stale.

This is the ideal time to use this format because so many issues are percolating throughout the legal landscape, many of which are particularly timely. They all raise a common question: How far have we really come as a profession and how much farther do we need to go until the profession catches up with the calendar?
