Toot Your Own Horn

Others do and so should you. I always heard stories about how the young attorneys in my firm would go to their annual review, bragging about what great attorneys they are, how they kicked butt on their cases and pushed even the most meaningless wins in the faces of our bosses, and I always thought, that will get them nowhere. Well, I was wrong, very wrong. I watched too many of them make partner before me. Was that the reason? Because I didn’t toot my own horn all these years? But I wrote my accomplishments in the review memo, just like they asked me to do. They read the memo, right? I didn’t need to point out every single silly little win, did I?
