A Central Pennsylvania attorney has been suspended for more than a year after he failed to timely report a conviction for driving under the influence and exhibited problematic behavior, including failing to respond to inquiries from the disciplinary body, showing “fiscal irresponsibility” and calling a Disciplinary Board attorney a “jerk” during a hearing.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Tuesday accepted the Disciplinary Board’s recommendation to suspend attorney Lon VanDusen Hughes for one year plus one day. The decision means Hughes, a Lancaster-based solo practitioner, must apply for reinstatement if he wants to practice law in Pennsylvania again.
