When Josh Shapiro officially takes over as Pennsylvania’s governor next year, he will also be vacating the role of the state’s top law enforcement officer, a position he has held since January 2017.

The decision to name a successor for the Attorney General’s Office will fall on Shapiro in his new role as governor, and, according to court watchers and political observers, he may not look very far outside office.
