The George Mason University Alumni Association has recently named Barley Snyder partner David J. Freedman its 2022 "Alumnus of the Year" for his pro bono work and accolades.
Freedman was honored at the university's annual Celebration of Distinction in October along with other awardees for their "outstanding service to others."
Freedman maintains a pro bono immigration practice, representing victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and LGBT persecution. He currently serves as the lead attorney in the U Visa Litigation Project, which has involved filing federal lawsuits against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for failure to timely decide U visa petitions filed by victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.
