The controversial statue of Christopher Columbus in Philadelphia's Marconi Plaza is set to stay where it is, now in full view of the public, thanks to a series of Friday rulings from the Commonwealth Court.

In two related opinions, the court ruled the city of Philadelphia did not properly authorize the statue's removal, and that the city was not authorized to later erect a plywood structure around the statue. A third opinion dismissed as moot a request for an injunction from the plaintiffs seeking to prevent the removal.
