Many people were surprised when NFL quarterback Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bundchen announced their divorce after 13 years of marriage. Unlike many celebrity couples, they kept their plans under wraps while negotiating and rumors of trouble in the marriage were barely swirling when the divorce was both filed and finalized on Oct. 28.
Some couples take years to agree to divorce terms. Even in amicable divorces, resolving and finalizing all details is rarely handled in just a month or two. With hundreds of millions in net worth, a property portfolio worth millions more and two young children to consider, how were Tom and Gisele able to pull it off so quickly and quietly?
