The Pennsylvania Superior Court affirmed a jury verdict that found no negligence in a medical malpractice claim of a man with hemophilia who experienced bleeding, pneumonia, and was hospitalized for two weeks following a hemorrhoidectomy.

According to the Dec. 23 nonprecedential opinion, plaintiff John Bukowski appealed the judgment in his medical malpractice claim brought against Dr. William Helm and several health care facilities including Commonwealth Health of Moses Taylor. Bukowski was born with hemophilia and used a Factor VIII blood product at home to remedy the deficiency and to help his blood clot properly. His primary place of treatment for that condition was Hershey Medical Center.
