A Pennsylvania appeals court allowed a lawsuit alleging negligence or willful misconduct under the Mental Health Procedures Act to proceed against two medical centers after a man they declined to treat murdered his girlfriend and attempted suicide.

In a March 10 opinion, the Pennsylvania Superior Court affirmed a trial court’s ruling denying summary judgment to Geisinger Medical Center and Alley Medical Center and remanded the case back to the trial court for further proceedings.
