Q&ACandidate: Jerry L. Wagner
Court: Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas
Party: Democrat and Republican
The following has been edited lightly for length and style.
The Legal: Tell us about your background, where you went to law school, what firms you have practiced at, and areas of law you focus on.
Jerry L. Wagner: Bachelor of Science, Pennsylvania State University. Juris Doctorate, Widener University School of Law. Thirty-two-year owner/operator of Fay L. Wagner Inc. Twenty-five-year licensed attorney with private-sector business practice experience in collections, contracts and regulatory affairs. Eight years as assistant district attorney, prosecuting a wide variety of criminal cases. Eight years as solicitor, domestic relations, overseeing matters of spousal and child support. Handled criminal appeals for the DA's Office.
The Legal: What is one major thing about your career experience that most qualifies you for this position, and why?
Wagner: The only candidate to have practiced before every judicial level in the commonwealth, including successfully arguing and appearing before both the Pennsylvania Superior and Supreme courts. Experience and results matter. With an undefeated appellate record that includes three precedential decisions, Mifflin County will be the beneficiary of that detailed analysis and application of law.
The Legal: What is the main reason Pennsylvania voters should pick you?
Wagner: The only candidate that can bring real-world, commonsense decision-making to the bench. With a private-sector background and combined legal experience in business, criminal, and civil, as well as the candidate who has the most trial experience, I will best be able to serve the constituents of Mifflin County as a public servant, not someone merely looking for a job or career.
The Legal: What will be your approach to moving matters efficiently through the case management system?
Wagner: I have worked full time and tirelessly my entire life and will bring that same work ethic and motivation as a full-time Common Pleas judge for the people of Mifflin County. As such, I will dedicate my service to ensuring that case progression is in keeping with the docket load and will avail my time on the bench toward that charge.
The Legal: What would you say to voters regarding your plans to ensure the equal administration of justice for all people?
hWagner: I will strictly uphold the Constitution regardless of personal beliefs. Justice is blind, and I will apply the law in accordance to the rights and protections as prescribed to us by the law.
The Legal: Where can voters go for more information about you?
Wagner: Facebook page: Jerry Wagner for Mifflin County Judge.
