The Legal Intelligencer: Tell us about your background, where you went to law school, what firms you have practiced at, and areas of law you focus on.

Jill Scheidt: I earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Penn State in 1989 and a Juris Doctorate from Villanova Law School in 1992. I was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1992 and have practiced in several firms and as a solo in Berks County over the last 30 years. I am currently a partner at Masano Bradley in Wyomissing. I have practiced in many different areas and currently focus on divorce, support and custody actions.

The Legal: What is one major thing about your career experience that most qualifies you for this position, and why?

Scheidt: My broad-based legal experience in and out of the courtroom most qualifies me for the position as Court of Common Pleas judge. I have litigated hundreds of civil, criminal and family cases from jury and bench trials through appeal to the Pennsylvania Superior and Supreme Court. I will bring over three decades of extensive legal experience and my understanding of our community to the bench to ensure fair justice while protecting families and upholding the constitutional rights of all residents.

The Legal: What is the main reason Pennsylvania voters should pick you?

Scheidt: I have the right combination of experience, skill and demeanor.

The Legal: What will be your approach to moving matters efficiently through the case management system?

Scheidt: I will schedule as many cases as possible to conduct trials and hearings to conclusion swiftly. Litigants have a right to finality, and I will have a full docket.

The Legal: What would you say to voters regarding your plans to ensure the equal administration of justice for all people?

Scheidt: I will ensure that all parties have the opportunity to be heard, and if they need assistance such as an interpreter I will assess the situation and use whatever resources are available.

The Legal: Where can voters go for more information about you?
