Cohen has a history of legal innovation, having pioneered the use of technology and lower-cost legal resources to deliver more value to clients at lower costs. He was instrumental in helping draft e-discovery amendments to the Pennsylvania Rules of Civil Procedure, testified in support of the 2015 Federal Rules amendments, and assisted the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania in setting up their E-Discovery Special Masters program, also serving as a court-appointed Special Master in multiple cases. He previously chaired the Allegheny County Bar Association Technology Utilization Committee, and the Western District of Pennsylvania chapter of Friends of E-Discovery.

Recently, in addition to continuing to head one of the largest e-discovery practice groups at any law firm, Cohen devotes substantial time to e-discovery industry leadership, including serving as chair of the EDRM Project Trustees. In that role, within the last year, Cohen helped to develop the new EDRM Privilege Protocol, the new Information Governance Reference Model and GDPR Cross-Border Discovery Guidelines.
