It is almost impossible to become a great lawyer without great mentors. Not all lawyers have either the talent or the disposition to be a great mentor; Ober has both. He is a skilled trial lawyer who loves the law and has a deep desire to impart that skill and enthusiasm to his colleagues. Thankfully for all of those who have worked with Ober during the course of his 50-year career, mentoring comes naturally to him. He loves nothing more than to gather the trial team in his office and talk through strategies and tactics. Whether he is working on the matter or not, his door is always open to talk through an issue. He never tires of sharing his wisdom and experience and always does so with the utmost patience.
He does not just teach, he listens, and he is a firm believer that people learn by doing. When Ober goes to trial, you can be sure that even the most junior member of the trial team is going to have an argument to make or a witness to examine. His love of the art of trial lawyering runs so deep that he served as a volunteer mock trial coach at his alma mater, taking great pride in watching high school students conduct scathing cross examinations and powerful closing arguments.
