Sunu Pillai, Saul Ewing

Pillai is a dedicated DEI leader—both within the firm and the larger legal community. A partner in the Pittsburgh office, he counsels construction and energy industry clients on issues throughout the project life-cycle, from contract formation through dispute resolution.

Within the firm, Pillai has helped to guide diversity-related strategic planning, policies and programming as a member of the diversity, equity & inclusion committee. Indira Sharma, immediate past chair of Saul Ewing's DEI committee notes, "Sunu has always offered thoughtful ideas and served as a strong voice for the recruitment, advancement and retention of diverse lawyers."

In addition to championing equity and inclusion at the firm, Pillai strives to build a more inclusive culture within the legal community. As a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association's Asian Attorneys Committee, he spearheaded initiatives to build closer ties with universities, other ACBA groups, and community organizations. As a member of the Pittsburgh Legal Diversity & Inclusion Coalition (PLDIC), he serves as a mentor for law students and new lawyers from historically underrepresented backgrounds.
