The Senate Communications and Technology Committee unanimously approved bipartisan legislation that would take a major step to protect minors and empower parents, according to the bill’s sponsors, Sens. Vincent Hughes, D-Philadelphia/Montgomery, and Kristin Phillips-Hill, R-York.

The legislation is based off protections in other states, including Connecticut and Ohio, as well as the Clean Slate for Kids Online Act introduced in the U.S. Senate. The legislation was amended by the committee to strengthen the integrity of the bill and enhance the goal of protecting children on social media.
