Pennsylvanians are set to select a new Supreme Court justice soon in a high-stakes race that will shape the make-up of the state's apex court for years to come.

The candidates are seeking a 10-year term on the bench, hoping to fill the seat vacated when former Chief Justice Max Baer died late last year, only a few months before he was set to leave the bench after hitting the mandatory retirement age.

Currently, the court consists of two Republicans and four Democrats, and the race, which promises to shake up that dynamic, has taken an aggressive turn going into the final weeks.

Voters will be making their choice on Nov. 7.

To help cut through the noise, we spoke with the candidates about their views on precedent, the dynamics between the high court and the General Assembly, and which past decisions have stuck with them the most.
