LitigationOn April 11, 2023, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore signed into law the Child Victims Act of 2023. The new law officially went into effect on Oct. 1, 2023. The act eliminates the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse claims and effectively revives child sexual abuse claims already time-barred. The Child Victims Act of 2023 codified at Maryland Code, courts and judicial proceedings (CJP) Article Section 5-117, provides the following:
