As you built your career, who mentored you?

I had the great fortune to work with Joseph (Jack) Montgomery starting very early in my career. Jack, one of the top insurance coverage litigators in the country, had the self-confidence to let me have a leading role in a number of large insurance coverage cases for important clients while providing the support and guidance I needed as I developed my own skills. In my effort to develop myself as a teacher, I benefited greatly from the NITA faculty with whom I taught, including Tony Bocchino and Paul Zwier, and from my Jones Day colleague, Tom Jackson (with whom I've taught many, many programs both within and without Jones Day).

What is the value of robust mentorship?
