What is the most important thing for an attorney, or practice to be effective in the ESG space?

ESG is rapidly evolving across jurisdictions, so it is extremely important to stay on top of the changes that impact our clients and their businesses. These changes can range from the impact of new case law, like the Supreme Court's decision on affirmative action, to new regulations, like the climate disclosure laws that recently passed in California, to evolving reporting standards. To be effective, attorneys should integrate ESG considerations into legal strategies, collaborate across disciplines, engage stakeholders effectively, and leverage technology. Commitment to continuous learning, global awareness, and collaboration with non-legal experts are essential to providing strategic counsel that is practical.
