What's the most important thing you've learned during the course of your career that you wish you knew as a young lawyer?

I think the most important lesson I have learned during my career is the necessity to choose an area of the law that you find interesting, challenging and personally rewarding. I have encountered numerous attorneys who were unhappy in their chosen field for various reasons, including the demanding hours, the pressure, the lack of self-fulfillment, or monotony of the work.

I was fortunate enough to have been exposed to numerous areas of the law over the years before I began my work exclusively in civil trial law. For the last 46 years I have maintained a civil trial practice in Altoona, and now practice nationwide, representing injured people.
