The deals market has been feast or famine in recent years, how do you navigate the ups and downs of an unpredictable marketplace?

With difficulty! That aspect of being an M&A lawyer never gets easy. Fortunately, the diversity of Dechert's client base means there seems to always be something happening. Recent years have shown the importance of flexibility—clients have turned to us for structured equity solutions, governance disputes and new product development, augmenting the more traditional PE buyout work as the rate market has fluctuated post-COVID. In some ways, the last few years may have been unpredictable, but that unpredictability has put a premium on creativity, making this a great time to add value and solve clients' most interesting challenges.
