Holland & Knight

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced in the past year and how did you overcome them?

After a slew of successes for clients represented by our Philadelphia litigators in 2022, our team was in great need of expansion in order to meet growing client demand. The firm stepped up and added six new associates to the litigation group in 2023—four laterals and two first years, who were summer associates in 2022. Our first challenge was identifying the best attorneys to take on work who would maintain the quality to which our clients are accustomed.

Secondly, with the growth of the team, there was a new challenge of establishing our group culture among our new attorneys, especially as we navigate our relationships in a post-COVID hybrid work environment. In order to better help our local team thrive, the firm created a stand-alone litigation practice group in Philadelphia (this team was previously a subset of the New York litigation practice group) which enables deeper relationships between our seasoned attorneys and younger associates, as well as greater responsiveness to emerging client needs and opportunities in the local market.
