A Philadelphia jury rejected a man’s products liability claims against two hair dye manufacturers after he alleged the companies’ products caused his bladder cancer, with defense counsel utilizing science to their advantage.

In Brown v. Hoyu America, a Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas jury rejected plaintiffs Kevin and Erika Brown’s negligence and strict liability claims against the defendants, Hoyu America and Combe Inc. After a two-week trial, the jury delivered its verdict July 2, concluding that Combe and Hoyu were not negligent and did not manufacture or sell a product that was defective.
