The University of the Arts, a private nonprofit institution in Philadelphia, was slapped with a class action on Aug. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

The court case arises from the school’s announcement that the school would be permanently closed on June 7. The suit, filed by Lynch Carpenter and Poulin Willey Anastopoulo on behalf of students who attended the university before the announcement, contends that the university did not provide students with a plan to continue their education prior to announcing the closure.
