The stalled impeachment proceedings against Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner received a final blow Thursday, as the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that the articles of impeachment against him are no longer valid.

In a 3-1 decision in Krasner v. Ward, the justices determined that articles of impeachment do not survive past the end of the legislative session in which they are passed. The majority holding means that the impeachment articles against Krasner that were approved in fall of 2022 are no longer valid since that session ended before those charges were tried.
