When I started practicing law in 2012, and then again about six years ago when I considered transitioning from the defense bar to the plaintiffs bar, I could not shake the thought of "how will I do it all?" Even breaking each of the roles out from one another: lawyer, mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, nonprofit board member—the thought of "doing it all" felt exhausting. And so, I did as I often do and I talked it out. I sought out mentors and other female lawyers further along in their personal lives and practices who seemed to be thriving to provide me with their secrets to ensure I "made it" both professionally, personally, and maybe most importantly, in a sustainable manner. Because after all that is the trick right … being able to do this successfully for the long haul.
