Settling an antitrust matter, a federal judge in Pennsylvania denied the state's attempts to stop glassware manufacturer Pyrex from moving its operations to Ohio.

In a Thursday opinion in Commonwealth v. Centre Lane Partners, U.S. District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan of the Western District of Pennsylvania denied Pennsylvania's request for a preliminary injunction, concluding there was insufficient evidence that Pyrex's merger with another home goods manufacturer violates federal antitrust law through a decrease in output or quality, an increase in prices, or would harm competition and consumers. Under the merger, Pyrex's Charleroi, Pennsylvania, plant would move out of the state.
