Awarding plaintiff's counsel more than double the jury award given to their client, a federal judge in Pennsylvania awarded attorneys from Winebrake & Santillo more than $200,000 in fees and expenses, after concluding that their requested rates and the majority of the hours logged were appropriate.

In a Dec. 6 opinion, U.S. District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan for the Western District of Pennsylvania granted plaintiff William Pepke's request for attorney fees and costs after a jury awarded him more than $79,000 in an age discrimination suit against his former employer. After making certain reductions, including travel time and administrative entries, the court awarded Pepke's counsel $198,870 in fees and $10,617.22 in costs.
