As eager as many Pennsylvanians may be to move on from the 2024 election cycle, we, as citizens of this commonwealth, should not stand idle in 2025. Pennsylvania voters will be electing municipal, school board and judicial candidates throughout the commonwealth this year. These races often go overlooked and voter turnout numbers decline drastically compared to presidential election years.

As lawyers, we must understand and act on the importance of remaining engaged in the electoral process, but it is also incumbent upon us to educate other voters about the importance of local elections, specifically judicial elections. Many voters will never engage directly with the judicial system, making it difficult to explain the importance of electing judges to voters operating outside of the day-to-day legal environment.
