Daschunds brought me to Savannah, Ga.
Each year, the Savannah Dachshund Club sponsors a wiener dog race. Even though it’ll be 11 and a half months before the race is run again, this is just one example of Savannah’s yearlong calendar of outdoor fun and any-excuse-to-drink-at-11-a.m. culture. (It’s true — the city doesn’t have an open container law, so you can take your favorite brew, or maybe a mint julep, to go.)
