As the United States sinks into what many predict will be a harsh recession, the economic woes are affecting some of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s goals.

When Mayor Michael A. Nutter called for City Council to suspend planned tax reductions for seven years in order to help with a projected $1 billion deficit, the bar association immediately came out in support of delaying the tax cuts, despite its long-standing goal of erasing the business privilege tax.
