Did you see a panel of experts the other day declared that we’ve been in a recession since last December? More importantly, did you react as I did by saying: "Thanks a lot, geniuses. It took you a year to figure that out?" No kidding there’s a recession. You can tell because even law firms are being hurt, as evidenced by the layoffs and talk of reduced bonuses, etc. Amid all the dire talk, the one thing that has had me worried regarding the legal community is the fate of the public interest firms.
Many of them rely substantially on law firms for financial donations and volunteer efforts. And the public interest groups are only seeing more work now that the economy is struggling.
