A truce may have been reached in the money dispute sparked between the Clerk of Quarter Sessions and the First Judicial District over Quarter Sessions’ handling of criminal justice remittances such as bail.
According to a press release issued by the Clerk of Quarter Sessions’ Office Thursday night, Everett Gillison, deputy mayor for public safety, Vivian Miller, the independently elected clerk of quarter sessions, and unspecified court officials have agreed to ask a state rules committee to change a state rule that does not allow the distribution of the portion of bail monies that goes to the city until the conclusion of criminal cases.
