A fiscal year-end of Sept. 30 didn’t mean Morgan Lewis & Bockius was immune to the worst of the economic downturn in late 2008 and an Oct. 1 start to the year means conservative budgeting for 2009.

Morgan Lewis’ managing partner for operations, Thomas J. Sharbaugh, said September wasn’t unaffected by the stormy global economic climate, and the firm was concerned about its ability to collect given most firms hold off on a substantial portion of collections until the final month of the fiscal year.
