By routinely misusing his government staff as both his personal servants and his campaign workers, former state Sen. Vincent J. Fumo “did not just cross the line, he obliterated it,” a federal prosecutor argued Monday.

In a closing argument that is expected to continue well into today, Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Zauzmer told the jury that the government had presented “an avalanche of evidence” because Fumo’s fraudulent schemes were numerous and had spanned many years.
