In the face of these harsh economic times, it is important that we stay focused on diversity and make certain those of us in the legal profession do not lose ground on this front. During the economic boom, many firms stated something to the effect that diversity was the fabric of their organizations. Behaving true to those words, we saw recruiting and retention issues addressed, and opportunities to succeed were paved for diverse lawyers.
Now is not the time to lose the momentum that we built over the last several years. Now is the time to reinforce our commitment to diversity and hold close to the fabric of our organizations. The time is upon us to take the next step toward making our law firms more diverse.
