To the Legal:
A couple of weeks ago, The Legal Intelligencer published its biannual Diversity supplement, which included articles and other information from a number of diverse individuals in the Philadelphia legal community. The supplement mentioned immediate past Chancellor A. Michael Pratt as one of the “2009 Diversity Attorneys of the Year.” This brief summary of Pratt’s accomplishments as chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association included the creation of a standing Office of Diversity, diversity training at the association’s leadership retreat and bench-bar conference, launching the annual diversity award and training workshops. While these articles certainly provided important information about diversity in Philadelphia, the lack of inclusion regarding the Philadelphia Bar Association’s diversity program posed a significant gap.
