With R. Seth Williams’ victory in the Democratic primary, this heavily Democratic city may be on the verge of making history by electing its first non-white district attorney in the fall.
If elected in November, Williams would be one of just a very few black district attorneys elected to lead their respective cities’ top law enforcement offices in the United States. The short list of black district attorneys includes Kamala D. Harris, San Francisco’s district attorney; Robert T. Johnson, the Bronx DA; and Craig Watkins, the district attorney of Dallas.
