PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Convicted former news anchor Larry Mendte has filed a defamation lawsuit against Philadelphia’s two major newspapers over coverage of his career and criminal case.

Mendte, 52, of Philadelphia finished serving six months of house arrest Monday and remains on federal probation for illegally hacking into former KYW-TV co-anchor Alycia Lane’s e-mails and leaking personal information to the press.
