On June 12, The Legal Intelligencer and the Pennsylvania Law Weekly, in association with the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group, presented a "Diversity in the Law" luncheon. The luncheon had two objective purposes — it honored Pennsylvania’s Diversity Attorneys of the Year and it included a diversity panel discussion featuring Doug Gaston, senior vice president and general counsel at Comcast Cable, Michael Kuritzkes, senior vice president and general counsel at Sunoco, and Heidi Stam, managing director, general counsel and corporate secretary at Vanguard. The panel was moderated by Raymond Williams of DLA Piper.
Although the luncheon, the honorees and the forum speak for themselves, what impressed me was the overflow of local attorneys, judges and other guests who filled the ballroom at the Warwick Hotel. Although I am a member of the board of directors of the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group and a member of the editorial board of The Legal , I did not see this coming. Neither, I dare say, did anyone else.
