A group of nine court-appointed attorneys filed an emergency motion in federal court Friday, asking the judge overseeing their case against the city of Philadelphia and its common pleas court to order that they be paid.
According to the motion filed by West Chester, Pa.-based attorney Samuel C. Stretton, the attorneys have not been paid since “late April, early May.” Stretton wrote in his accompanying memorandum of law that the city “apparently … ran out of money before the end of the fiscal year … and stopped making payments for bills being submitted during that time.”
