The state Supreme Court has agreed to preserve the records of all Luzerne County juveniles who appeared before a disgraced former judge there, according to a letter filed in federal court Friday.

The decision, which represents a change in the court’s position, appears to be a victory for the attorneys representing juveniles who appeared before former Luzerne County Judge Mark A. Ciavarella Jr. between 2003 and 2008. Some 400 youths have filed civil claims against him and several other defendants in response to the Luzerne County public corruption probe being conducted by federal investigators.
