On Aug. 5, S. Robert Levant died of natural causes. He was 82.

Levant grew up in West Philadelphia and graduated from John Bartram High School in 1944. Shortly after high school, he joined the Army, where he was assigned to the Air Corps, the precursor to the Air Force, and served in Europe until his discharge in October 1946.
