On Sept. 30, HIAS and Council Migration Service of Philadelphia will host its 127th annual luncheon meeting at noon, at the Jewish Community Services Building, Lindy Board Room, 2nd floor, 2100 Arch St., Philadelphia. The meeting will feature a panel discussion by religious leaders on why they work with refugees and immigrants and will honor HIAS and Council 2009 award recipients. On Sept. 30, the Nationalities Service Center will host 2009 Global Tastes, a fundraising event, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Penn Museum, 3260 South St. The event will celebrate Philadelphia’s diverse communities through food and explore the rich diversity of ethnic cuisines that are changing Philadelphia’s global palate. Individual tickets are $75 and nonprofit employee tickets are $50 each. At the event, NSC’s First Beacon of Justice Award will be presented to Mayor Michael A. Nutter .
