The two candidates for an open seat on the state Supreme Court collected the majority of their campaign contributions between June and September from a single organization, with the Democratic candidate, Jack Panella, receiving the lion’s share of the money, according to campaign finance reports.
The $500,000 in contributions to Panella and $100,000 to Republican candidate and fellow Superior Court Judge Joan Orie Melvin by the Committee for a Better Tomorrow highlight the essential problem with elections for appellate court judges, one observer said.
