Adrian King Jr. has spent a little less than three years representing the state of Pennsylvania’s interests with topics such as the burgeoning gaming industry and public safety. But in a scenario all too common for Philadelphians who take high-level state government positions, King tired of the commute to Harrisburg and missed spending time with his wife and two young daughters.
So next month, he will return to Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, where he spent a year before leaving to become deputy chief of staff to Gov. Edward G. Rendell. King’s most recent position has been as director of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA), and he played a key role in the governor’s fight against the planned closure of the Willow Grove Naval Air Base. The move comes on the heels of the firm adding four trademark lawyers in Washington, D.C.
