Under a court rule change announced in late September, witnesses appearing before investigating grand juries will need to be sworn in by a judge only when “it is necessary to give constitutional warnings,” according to an order from the state Supreme Court.
The amendment to Rule of Criminal Procedure 227 was announced Sept. 30, with the change going into effect Feb. 1.
