The state Supreme Court has agreed to hear a King’s Bench appeal lodged by a Philadelphia judge who claims the General Assembly’s November repeal of this summer’s pay raise violated the state constitution.
Philadelphia Orphans’ Court Judge John W. Herron, a former trial division administrative judge, has argued that under Article V, Section 16 of the Pennsylvania Constitution, unless every single salaried officer has his or her salary reduced, the state’s jurists can’t be subjected to a pay cut.
