Federal judges have ruled against prosecutors and attorneys in two cases stemming from a federal probe into the sale of fraudulent tax shelters by accounting giant KPMG.

U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan in the Southern District of New York found the Department of Justice unfairly pressured KPMG to cut off legal fees to its employees to avoid further trouble for the company itself.
