Record evidence is needed to resolve whether attorneys had the authority from their clients to enter into a settlement agreement, the Commonwealth Court has ruled.

Brannam v. Reedy, PICS Case No. 06-1098 (Pa. Commw. Aug. 14, 2006) Leavitt, J. (12 pages), marks the first time an appeals court has commented on the evidence needed to apply Reutzel v. Douglas, 870 A.2d 787 (Pa. 2005), which determined apparent authority was not sufficient for an attorney to settle a case on behalf of a client.
